Job summary

The Salvation Army in Omaha seeks a full-time VA Support Services Specialist to provide in-home rehabilitative services for Veterans, helping them maintain community living and independence. The role requires an Associates Degree (Bachelor’s preferred), strong documentation, and coordination with the VA liaison.

Driving is required; schedule is Monday–Friday 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.; compensation is $22.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• Requires an Associates Degree in psychology, social work, or related field.
• Minimum one year of experience in direct care of participants with severe mental illness.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office and access timekeeping systems.

Responsibilities

• Complete ISP within 7 days of admission.
• Maintain ISP and assessments including risk assessments and safety contracts.
• Must have a minimum of three face-to-face contacts per month or more frequently as needed.
• Provides support interventions with focus on daily living skills, education, budgeting, medication compliance and self-administration, relapse prevention, social and independent living skills.
• Develop and implement strategies to engage individuals in mental health treatment plans.
• Perform services and case management with VA Liaison.
• Maintain case records, statistics and assist with reports and manuals.
• Prepare and implement crisis/relapse plans and respond to crises.
• Facilitate communication between treatment and rehabilitation providers.
• Drive as an essential function of the position.
• All other duties as assigned.
