Job summary

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota is seeking an In-Home Direct Support Professional to provide guidance, encouragement, and safety for individuals with disabilities in their homes and communities. You will help develop individual plans, support living skills, and maintain accurate documentation.

Regular meetings and trainings are part of the role. The position requires a valid driver’s license, background check clearance, and completion of medication administration training.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record and ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Check.
• Must successfully pass a background check.
• Must complete medication administration training or be willing to obtain.
• Basic computer and math skills required for documentation and record keeping.
• Ability to read, write, solve problems and follow directions.
• Strong decision-making skills and ability to respond to emergencies.
• Ability to recognize boundaries, demonstrate patience, self-control and flexibility.
• CPR/First Aid certification is preferred (may be obtained after hire).

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance, encouragement, support, and safety for individuals with disabilities in their home or community.
• Assist in developing and monitoring individual plans, hopes, and dreams.
• Support independence by teaching essential living skills.
• Maintain documentation and records; attend meetings and trainings per regulations.
