Job summary

STRiVE in Grand Junction, Colorado is seeking a compassionate Direct Support Professional to provide respite and in-home support for a child with complex medical needs. This role emphasizes safety, engagement, and individualized care within the family home.

The DSP will assist with overnight or waking supervision, meals, hygiene, transportation, and activities while following care plans and completing required documentation. A valid driver’s license and background checks are required.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older (21 if transporting).
• HS Diploma or GED completed.
• Successful completion of core competency training: 1st Aid & CPR, Medication Administration/QMAP if applicable, CPI if needed.
• Criminal background and reference checks as per guidelines.
• Valid driver’s license and driving record meeting STRiVE standards.

Responsibilities

• Overnight and waking supervision per the service plan.
• Timely response to medical, behavioral, or other emergencies.
• Medication administration as required.
• Assistance with hygiene, meals, transportation, and in-home activities.
• Documentation and billing using Therap; complete General Event Reports as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
