Job summary

Thrive Education Partners is seeking a warm, experienced High School Learning Specialist / Academic Tutor to provide individualized academic support for a bright 9th-grade student in Charlotte, NC. The role focuses on dysgraphia, executive functioning, and multi-subject support to ensure the student starts high school with strong strategies and independence.

Responsibilities include guiding study and writing processes, coordinating with families, and delivering consistent in-person sessions

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant teaching, tutoring, learning-support, or academic intervention experience
• Meaningful experience with middle/high school students
• Experience supporting students with learning differences
• Strong understanding of executive-functioning and its impact on performance
• Experience supporting written expression, writing organization, and/or dysgraphia
• Ability to support across multiple academic areas
• Experience partnering and communicating effectively with parents and families
• Ability to provide in-person support at set weekly times

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized academic support across high school coursework (English/ELA, math, reading comprehension, writing, etc.)
• Help the student transition to high school with independence, organization, studying, and written work
• Teach strategies for navigating dysgraphia and written-expression demands
• Strengthen executive-functioning skills: organization, time management, prioritization, tracking, initiation, follow-through
• Break down large assignments, plan deadlines, and manage multiple classes
• Teach study, note-taking, reading comprehension, and test-prep strategies
• Identify whether challenges are due to content, output, comprehension, or other skills, and adjust support
• Foster independence while communicating progress with the family
