Job summary

Prep Academy Tutors is seeking experienced, certified educators to provide in-home tutoring for elementary students (K–6) in the Northern Virginia area. Tutors work directly with families, delivering personalized instruction in students’ homes, building skills and confidence outside the traditional classroom.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree, active teaching credentials, classroom experience, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Virginia teaching license/certificate or equivalent credential.
• Demonstrated classroom teaching experience.
• Strong knowledge of at least one core subject.
• Experience teaching grades K–8.
• Ability to adapt instruction for different learning styles and levels.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, professionalism, reliability, and a student-centered approach.
• Excellent organization and time-management skills.
• Reliable transportation and ability to travel to student homes.
• Authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Deliver one-on-one instruction to K–6 students in the home.
• Support across core subjects incl. Math, ELA, Science, Social Studies.
• Adapt lessons to student needs and learning styles.
• Reinforce classroom instruction and build foundational skills.
• Assist with homework, organization and study strategies.
• Identify academic difficulties and develop targeted plans.
• Establish positive relationships with students and families.
• Monitor progress and communicate observations.
• Encourage ownership of learning and confidence.
• Maintain a professional in-home learning environment.
• Travel to students’ homes.
