Job summary

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota is seeking an In-Home Direct Support Professional to provide guidance, encouragement, and safety to individuals with disabilities. You will support them in their homes or communities and help implement their individual plans.

The role focuses on developing living skills, maintaining independence, and accurate documentation, with mandatory meetings/trainings per regulations. CPR/First Aid preferred after hire. LSS values trust and teamwork.

Qualifications

• A valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and a Motor Vehicle Check.
• Background check completed successfully.
• Medication administration training completed.
• Computer and math skills.
• Ability to read, write, solve problems, and follow directions.
• Good decision-making and emergency response abilities.
• Ability to recognize boundaries, exhibit patience, and self-control.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred (may be obtained after hire).

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance, encouragement, support, comfort, security, and safety through relationship building and direct interaction.
• Support individuals in homes or within their community and assist with individual plans, hopes, and dreams.
• Help individuals develop essential living skills and increase independence.
• Maintain documentation and perform record keeping; participate in meetings/trainings per regulations.
• Advocate for individuals and uphold the rights and dignity of those served.
