Job summary

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota is seeking an In-Home Direct Support Professional to provide guidance, encouragement, support, comfort, security, and safety for individuals with disabilities in their homes or communities. You will help develop and monitor individual plans and assist in developing essential living skills to increase independence through everyday interactions.

The role requires a valid driver’s license, background checks, medication administration training, and strong

Qualifications

• A valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and a Motor Vehicle Check.
• Background check completion required.
• Medication administration training completed or to be completed after hire.
• Computer and math skills.
• Able to read, write, solve problems, and follow directions.
• Good decision-making skills and ability to respond to emergencies.
• Ability to recognize boundaries, exhibit patience, self-control, and flexibility.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred (may be obtained after hire).

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance, encouragement, support, comfort, security, and safety through relationship building and direct interaction.
• Support individuals in homes or communities and assist in developing and monitoring their individual plans.
• Help individuals develop essential living skills to increase independence.
• Maintain documentation, perform record keeping, and participate in meetings/trainings per regulations.
• Demonstrate advocacy skills expected of staff.
