Job summary

Aging in the 207 in Maine is seeking a dedicated Person Support Specialist to provide direct in-home support to older adults and adults with disabilities. You will help with daily living activities, mobility, and personal care, following individualized care plans and ensuring safety and comfort in clients' homes.

Qualifications

• Experience providing direct care or support to older adults and/or adults with disabilities.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust, offer companionship, and maintain professional boundaries.
• Demonstrated reliability, time management, and organizational skills to follow schedules, care plans, and documentation requirements.
• Knowledge of basic home safety practices, infection control, and respectful support of client dignity and independence.
• Ability to work in clients’ homes, including performing light housekeeping and meal preparation tasks.
• Capacity to handle physical aspects of the role, such as standing, walking, and safely supporting client mobility, with or without assistive devices.
• High school diploma or equivalent; prior home care, caregiving, or direct support professional experience is strongly preferred.
• Valid driver’s license or reliable transportation within Maine, and ability to travel between client homes as needed.
• Willingness to complete agency training, follow state and agency regulations, and participate in ongoing professional development.
• Background check eligibility and commitment to maintaining client confidentiality and ethical care standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility, toileting, and meal preparation.
• Provide light housekeeping and meal preparation as part of daily care routines.
• Offer companionship through conversation and engagement in hobbies and social activities.
• Document services provided and communicate changes in client needs to supervisors and family members as appropriate.
