Job summary

Expeditors International is seeking a Import Department professional in Elkridge, MD to ensure timely and accurate movement of freight and information while delivering exceptional customer service.

In this role, you will handle data entry, track shipments, prepare notices, and coordinate with overseas partners and customers, maintaining compliance and seeking opportunities to improve processes.

Responsibilities

• Ensure smooth and timely freight process flow.
• Accurate data entry into the operational system.
• Track and trace ocean shipments through the transportation cycle.
• Prepare and send documents and notices to overseas and customers.
• Bill clients and vendors accurately and promptly.
• Coordinate with customers to arrange international shipments and meet service standards.
• Maintain relationships with carriers, trucking companies and suppliers.
• Ensure compliance with internal and external regulations.

Job Description

Scope of Position

Ensure timely and accurate movement of freight and information, while providing exceptional customer service within the Import Department.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure smooth and timely freight process flow


• Ensure accurate and timely data entry into our operational system


• Track and trace ocean shipments through the transportation cycle


• Ensure documents are timely sent and arrival notices communicated to overseas and customers


• Ensure accurate and timely client and vendors billing.


• Interact with our customers in arranging their international shipments, meeting customer service standards.


• Contribute to maintain good relationships with suppliers (Ocean carriers, trucking companies and others involved).


• Meet compliance at all times to regulations internal and external in accordance with government regulations.


• Understand department process flow, and looking for best practices to improve operational efficiency and productivity


• Ensure all customers standard operating procedures in place and updated in the SOPs


• Meet KPI standards in accordance with the Company’s procedures


• Overseas communications, timely responses to mails and requests (internal and external)

Qualifications

• Customer Service Experience


• Operations/Industry knowledge preferred but not required


• Effective interpersonal skills, including proven abilities to listen, comprehend, effectively communicate clearly and concisely to obtain positive results


• Pro-active, strong organizational skills


• Proven analytical skills


• Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship
