Job summary

Construction Specialties, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented international shipping support specialist to assist the Shipping Supervisor. You will manage inquiries, coordinate international shipments, and prepare documentation to ensure timely deliveries.

The role requires strong communication, inventory awareness, and the ability to work across departments. This is a full-time on-site position offering growth in a historic manufacturing company with global projects.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide pro-active customer service for international and inter-company orders to meet shipping deadlines.

• Serve as single point of contact for international shipments and related inquiries.
• Prepare shipping paperwork and international documents ensuring tariff and government regulation compliance.
• Coordinate freight movements with carriers and forwarders; transmit export information.
• Maintain knowledge of export controls and Incoterms; escalate issues as needed.

• Provides pro-active customer service to ensure that international and inter-company orders are processed quickly and efficiently to ensure that shipping deadlines are met.
• Coordinates international shipments. This includes completing required shipping activities within
• Transportation Management System, notifying Internal Customers (SBU's) of required shipment dates, and preparing necessary documentation for customs compliance and shipping.
• Resolves customer inquiries, complaints, or problems, as relates to delivery, shipping details, special conditions, etc., seeking advice and information from each SBU's internal department as necessary. Provides a single point of contact for international shipments.
• Coordinates creation of necessary shipping paperwork and international documentation, ensuring completeness and compliance to tariff, customs, and government regulations and company procedures, for each international shipment.
• Communicates and coordinates freight movement with shipping companies and freight forwarders.
• Transmits required U.S. Government information via the Automated Export System.
• Performs 3rd party screening to ensure compliance with U.S. Export Controls.
• Understands all aspects of INCO Terms. Ensures that review and discrepancies are resolved in a timely manner.
• Confers with department supervisor on unfamiliar/uncommon problems. Advises supervisor of ideas and possible process and policy changes that could improve or enhance service to the customer.
• Stays current with formal training for certification of safe handling of hazardous materials, training concerning new and emerging procedures related to compliance efforts, and streamlining of daily order processing.
• Assures quality of work through accuracy, neatness, paying attention to details, thorough understanding of information, with minimal amount of rework. Identifies and acts upon opportunities to improve quality of processes or materials.

• Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or equivalent combination of education and experience. Industry experience is preferred, but, willing to train a skilled candidate.
