Job summary

Construction Specialties, Inc. is seeking an entry-level Manufacturing Associate in Muncy, PA. You will train under a supervisor and shadow a trainer to understand and complete manufacturing operations, including subassemblies and final assembly.

You will perform duties with attention to safety, quality, and ISO procedures, while maintaining a clean work area and supporting various shop tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to read a tape measure to 1/16".
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic in all units of measure.
• Regularly stand, walk, use hands and reach; lift up to 50 pounds.
• Vision requirements: near, far, color, depth perception.

Responsibilities

• Receive work assignments from Production Supervisor.
• Complete tasks alone or assist others in various tasks.
• Ensure guards and safety devices are installed and operating properly.
• Perform equipment safety inspections and report discrepancies.
• Operate saw equipment to cut extruded stock as specified by work orders.
• Assemble products per work order, drawings or catalog specifications.
• Perform sub-assemblies for stock as needed.
• Maintain clean and orderly work area and report problems to Supervisor.
• Handle hazardous materials according to training guidelines.
• Perform other duties assigned by management.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Receives work assignments from department Production Supervisor.
• Completes assigned tasks alone or assists others in various tasks.
• Ensures that guards and safety devices are installed on equipment used and are operating properly.
• Performs required equipment safety inspections. Reports any discrepancies to Production Supervisor and shuts equipment down.
• Adjusts and operates saw equipment to cut extruded stock, metal and plastic to the size and shape specified by the work order. Positions fixtures and clamps to properly locate direction of cut.
• Uses other shop equipment as needed such as hand drill or drill press, punch and die press, fixed router, nut drivers and heat forming equipment.
• Performs assembly using materials and parts designated by the work order, production sheet, drawings, or catalog specifications. Follows established procedures and operations prescribed to assemble products.
• Performs simple and repetitive manufacture or make up of sub assemblies for stock.
• Ensures compliance with ISO 9001 quality management system and ISO 14001 environmental management system requirements, including adherence to documented procedures, participation in audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Performs on going quality control of own work such as using color chips to verify correct color, product (extrusion) samples for correct size and shape, and measuring devices to verify correct lengths/widths.
• Follows directions to perform other company related work when time permits or when directed.
• Maintains work area, equipment and supplies in a neat and orderly condition.
• Reports any problems or difficulties to Production Supervisor or Manager.
• Ensure that hazardous material and waste handling is conducted within the guidelines of the training provided.
• Performs other duties assigned by management

QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE/ EDUCATION: (Minimum Education and/or Experience required)

• High school diploma/GED required, preferably with a trade or votech class history.
• Ability to read a tape measure to the 1/16th
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance, and taste or smell.
• The employee must regularly lift and/or move 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

COMPETENCIES
