Job summary

Bay State Community Services Inc seeks a Diversion Coordinator to manage daily casework for youth in the Commonwealth’s diversion program. You will serve as the primary contact for youth, families, and service providers, coordinating risk assessments and individualized diversion agreements.

Your role includes monitoring progress, meeting youths in the community, and collaborating with partners to ensure successful outcomes while upholding confidentiality and professionalism.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or related field OR Associates with 2+ years direct experience.
• Experience working with at-risk youth.
• Experience working with diverse communities.
• Knowledge of community groups, events and connections in the area Diversion Coordinator will be working in.
• Ability to adapt, think critically and problem solve in high stress environments.
• Ability to collaborate and work independently at times.
• Ability to maintain relationships with youth, their families, service providers, diversion referrers and other partners.
• Understands the value of repairing harm caused by individuals or society, and engaging individuals and community in the process.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• CORI check conducted, but not automatically disqualifying.

Responsibilities

• Meet with youth referred to the diversion program and their families and explain the diversion process and expectations.
• Gather information to craft individualized diversion agreements by conducting risk/need assessments, interviewing youth, families, victims, and referrers, and reviewing reports.
• Match youth to interventions and develop the diversion agreement based on the case plan.
• Monitor progress of youth throughout the diversion process.
• Meet with youth at a pre-determined frequency in the community or at approved locations.
• Maintain contact with youth through visits, calls, texts or approved methods.
• Communicate with other system stakeholders and service providers across the communities served.
• Build community connections and establish partnerships for future programming.
• Engage youth throughout case planning and communicate expectations at each stage.
• Handle confidential information appropriately.
• Attend court hearings & other meetings relevant to youth needs.
• Distribute, collect and input data on Diversion cases for evaluation.
• Keep progress documentation in secure areas accessible to diversion staff.
• Participate in trainings and professional development.
• Other duties as assigned.
