Job summary

South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice seeks an Entry level specialist to provide case management coordination for youth in diversion, intake, probation, or parole. You will assess needs, interview families, monitor compliance, and develop plans to connect youth with services.

The role requires strong communication, documentation, and collaboration with service providers to reduce risk and support successful re-entry into the community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social science or its equivalent.
• Knowledge of federal/state laws and regulations pertaining to juvenile offenders and the juvenile justice system.
• Ability to organize and maintain a case load.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Serves as the primary case manager for youth referred to DJJ through diversion, intake, probation, or parole supervision.
• Interviews juveniles, family members and service providers to assess functioning, strengths, and needs.
• Monitors juvenile for compliance with court orders.
• Provides alternatives to incarceration through graduated responses and STAP.
• Develops a comprehensive needs-based case management plan.
• Advocates on behalf of youth and families to ensure timely and consistent services.
• Maintains case files and JJMS data entry.
