Job summary

The Potomac School in McLean, VA seeks a Long-Term Substitute Upper School Learning Specialist (Grades 9-12) for December 2026–May 2027, full-time. The role provides individualized learning support through a coaching model, partnering with students, families, and faculty.

Responsibilities include managing a caseload of 25–30 students, developing IAPs from psychoeducational reports, coordinating accommodations, collaborating with the SST, and guiding classroom strategies to foster independence

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
• 3+ years experience in learning support, special education, or related field.
• Experience reading psychoeducational/neuropsychological evaluations and generating academic plans.
• Familiarity with ADHD and learning differences in an ambitious curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized learning support through a coaching model.
• Manage a caseload of 25–30 Upper School students.
• Read psychoeducational and neuropsychological reports to develop IAPs.
• Collaborate with students, families, and faculty to identify barriers and strategies.
• Assist with academic testing accommodations and Upper School Testing Center responsibilities.
