Job summary

Northeastern University is seeking an Academic Advisor to deliver student-focused academic advising to undergraduate pathway students across Northeastern network campuses. You will identify students’ interests, abilities, and goals and work with home college advising units on the Boston campus.

The role includes supporting retention, scheduling, major declarations, records, teaching Introduction to College sections, and collaboration with offices such as Registrar and Global Services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 2–3 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of educational requirements and advising processes.
  • Demonstrated technology proficiency with various software applications.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Experience working as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver student-focused academic advising to undergraduate pathway students across Northeastern network campuses.
  • Collaborate with home college advising units and Boston campus to provide general program advising.
  • Identify at-risk students and refer to appropriate resources; maintain detailed student records and monitor progress.
  • Teach sections of Introduction to College; develop course modules and teaching methods; monitor attendance and grades.
  • Submit progress reports as needed and participate in committees related to advising.
  • Support Admissions efforts and events as needed.
