Job summary

Northeastern University is seeking an Academic Advisor SEIU to deliver student-focused academic advising to undergraduates in pathway programs across Northeastern network campuses. You will support registration, planning, and major declaration while partnering with home colleges on the Boston campus to promote student success and retention.

You will teach sections of the Introduction to College course, participate in committees, and collaborate with campus offices to enhance advising services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 2–3 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of educational requirements and academic advising processes.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with a variety of software applications.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Experience working collaboratively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Academic Advising and Retention (60%): Advise students with campus units to support undergraduate pathway program students; monitor progress; maintain records; assist with registration and major declaration; identify at-risk students and coordinate referrals.
  • Teaching (25%): Teach sections of the Introduction to College course; develop new modules with advising units; monitor attendance and grades; submit progress reports.
  • Special Projects (15%): Liaise with Registrar, Office of Global Services, and WeCare; support admissions events; build campus relationships to enhance services.
