Job summary

Commonwealth of VA Careers in Suffolk, VA is seeking a Transportation Planner to support transportation planning activities and programs. You will coordinate with multiple entities, conduct technical analyses, and respond to public inquiries during hearings and meetings.

You will assist district planning, perform land development reviews, and prepare travel demand forecasts using available data and models. Strong communication and software skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Ability to apply transportation planning principles to complex projects.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments within scheduled timeframes.
• Experience with MPO/regional long-range transportation planning.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with various entities on transportation planning activities and programs; conduct technical analyses.
• Respond to public inquiries and present to government and civic groups on planning topics.
• Support district planning by coordinating with land development and project development activities; provide recommendations.
• Perform land development reviews including rezoning and site plans; provide traffic impact analyses.
• Prepare local and regional travel demands and enable geospatial display of measures; develop forecasts.
• Assist with transportation planning studies and corridor/interchange studies; analyze data and provide recommendations.
