Job summary
Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. in Reston, VA is seeking a Transportation Engineer/Planner to support multimodal transportation planning for state, county, and regional clients.
You’ll collaborate with planners, data analysts, traffic engineers, ITS designers, and operations specialists to evaluate improvements and investment strategies across Virginia. The role requires strong knowledge of traffic analysis and multimodal mobility, with hands-on use of VISSIM, Synchro, HCS, and GIS.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field.
- 4+ years of progressive ITS/Traffic Engineering experience.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
- Experience with traffic analysis tools including Vissim, HCS and Synchro.
- Experience with multimodal transportation, safety studies, MOT, signing and pavement markings.
- Highway Capacity Manual methodologies for LOS analysis.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support multimodal traffic operations and safety studies.
- Develop traffic simulation models using Vissim, Synchro, and related software.
- Perform planning analyses to evaluate corridor improvements and project development.
- Design and review MOT, signing, pavement markings, and temporary traffic control concepts.
- Prepare technical reports and recommendations for DOT, county, and federal clients.
