Job summary

County of Los Angeles seeks an experienced Staff Development Specialist, Health Services to lead training programs addressing homelessness. You will assess needs, design curricula, and coordinate in-person and virtual trainings for Homeless Services staff and partners.

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years in training delivery or program supervision related to homelessness, with strong collaboration skills and ability to work under emergency conditions. A California driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited college or university is required.
• Option I: One year of staff experience conducting training for homeless response programs.
• Option II: One year of experience supervising homeless program management.
• Option III: Three years supervising a large clerical unit serving homeless program participants.

Responsibilities

• Performs needs assessments to identify training needs for Homeless Services and Housing staff and partners.
• Designs and delivers training programs on best practices for serving people experiencing homelessness.
• Creates, revises, and maintains curricula, lesson plans, and training materials.
• Identifies and refines training topics to align with program goals and service delivery requirements.
• Schedules and facilitates in-person and virtual trainings, tracks attendance and materials.
• Coordinates with external training providers and maintains training records.
• Develops evaluation studies and tools to measure training effectiveness and identify gaps.
• Participates in administrative studies or research projects as required.
