Job summary

UNOPS is seeking a Structural Engineer to support the Nexus Response Mechanism in Syria, focusing on rehabilitating water supply and irrigation systems to strengthen resilience. The role involves design, analysis, review of calculations, and collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams on complex infrastructure projects.

Candidates should hold a civil/structural engineering degree and have at least two years of relevant experience; project management credentials are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering required.
• At least two years of practical civil engineering experience required.
• Project Management Certificates desirable.
• Experience with UN or humanitarian/development agencies is desirable.
• Experience with water supply or irrigation infrastructure desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze structural components for infrastructure projects, including potable water supply and irrigation systems.
• Prepare and review design briefs, reports, calculations, specifications, and bills of quantities.
• Provide structural assessment and technical support.
• Conduct site inspections and ensure quality assurance and control protocols.
• Coordinate with other disciplines, liaise with clients, and prepare inputs for project reports.
