Township High School District 113 in Highland Park is seeking an Intensive Special Education Paraprofessional to support students with disabilities, assist transportation and classroom activities, and help implement IEP objectives under supervision.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, an Illinois Paraprofessional Educator license, and the ability to lift 50 lbs. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., pay is $23 per hour, assignment is 10 months.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Illinois Paraprofessional Educator license is required.
• Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
• Able to work with high-risk students.
• Dependability in attendance and punctuality.
• Able to operate tactfully under stress.
• Flexibility to change routines.

Responsabilités

• Assist the teacher in the preparation of materials.
• Conduct individual and small group instruction under the direction of the teacher.
• Assist in behavior management under the direction of the teacher.
• Assist in toileting and feeding under the direction of the teacher.
• The ability to assist students with limited physical mobility.
• Participate in team planning meetings, staffing meetings, and parent conferences as requested by the teacher.
• Participate in in-service programs and professional development as requested.
• Lift students who weigh over 50 pounds.
• Assist in physical restraint of students when necessary in line with safety policies.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and support personnel to improve services for students.
