Job summary

The School District of Springfield Township is seeking candidates to work as Instructional Assistants to support students with disabilities under the supervision of the special education teacher and principal.

Responsibilities include implementing IEPs, documenting student information, maintaining records, and assisting with daily living activities as needed. The role also involves meetings to update IEPs and participation in trainings to update skills.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with students with special needs is preferred.
• Must enjoy working with children.
• Must be considered highly qualified in PA by completing at least one of the listed requirements: a, b or c.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the implementation of each student’s educational program as outlined in their IEP and according to the classroom schedule.
• Document information regarding students and their needs, strengths, gains, and areas for improvement as directed by teachers.
• Assist in maintaining student records.
• Help with clerical tasks such as correcting assignments and maintaining learning centers and bulletin boards.
• Assist in distributing, collecting and monitoring student work.
• Implement and follow behavior support plans provided by teachers or behavior staff.
• Escort students to lunch and to activities in various rooms for scheduled events.
• Supervise students during eating, gym, drills, assemblies, recess, and field trips as needed.
