Job summary

Oswego Community Unit School District No. 308 seeks a Special Education Teacher to support students with disabilities ages 3-21. The teacher collaborates with general and special education staff to determine eligibility and appropriate programming, while managing a caseload and monitoring progress.

The role emphasizes IEP development, MTSS prereferral interventions, and ongoing collaboration with families and school teams to ensure effective teaching and learning outcomes.

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS I endorsement.
• Recent special education teaching experience.
• Knowledge of MTSS prereferral interventions.
• Ability to write and implement IEPs.
• Excellent communication and time management skills.
• Ability to collaborate with students, families, team members, and others.

Responsibilities

• Provide collaborative consultation to staff on MTSS prereferral strategies.
• Consult with staff during team meetings and planning times.
• Screen and evaluate students, write evaluation reports and IEP recommendations.
• Re-evaluate students as recommended by the IEP team.
• Submit records and progress reports promptly and efficiently.
• Participate as an IEP team member in development and implementation of IEPs.
• Manage a caseload of students with disabilities and provide individualized instruction.
• Monitor student progress and communicate with parents and staff.
