Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field.
• Valid Texas certificate with required special education endorsements for assignments.
• Semi-Annual Certification for Single Cost Objective employees.
• Ability to work effectively with school and community population.
• Knowledge of special needs of students in assigned area.
• Knowledge of ARD Committee process and IEP goal setting/implementation.
• General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with students, parents, and staff to develop IEP through ARD for each student.
• Implement instructional, therapeutic, or skill development programs and document prep.
• Plan and use instructional strategies and materials aligned to learning styles.
• Modify regular curricula and assist SPED students in regular classes.
• Participate in ARD Committee meetings regularly.
• Assess student learning styles and use results to plan activities.
• Present subject matter according to IEP guidelines.
• Use varied instructional techniques and media for each student.
• Supervise teacher aide(s) and volunteers; supervise activities.
• Use technology in teaching/learning processes.
• Maintain ongoing assessments of student achievement.
• Provide or supervise personal/medical care and feeding as stated in IEP.
• Be a positive role model and support district mission.
• Establish and maintain a conducive classroom environment.
