Job summary

Rome City Schools in Rome, Georgia is seeking a Special Education Teacher (General Curriculum) to deliver direct services under IDEA and GaDOE. You will collaborate with families, teachers, and specialists to support students’ progress.

Responsibilities include leading IEP meetings, ensuring compliance with federal/state policies, and maintaining thorough records. This full-time role reports to the Building Principal and requires a GAPSC license with special education certification.

Qualifications

• Three years of successful teaching experience.
• Valid GAPSC license with Special Education certification (P-12).
• Preferred Elementary Education (P-5) or Middle Grades/6-12 Content Area certifications.
• Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills.
• Ability to lead teams and facilitate IEP meetings.

Responsibilities

• Provide specially designed instruction based on high-leverage practices to students on the general curriculum.
• Direct ESS Paraprofessional activities to support IEP goals and access to standards.
• Maintain confidentiality and manage required records for students with disabilities.
• Communicate with families, colleagues, IEP team members, and department staff.
• Attend meetings, trainings, and conferences to maintain professional competence.
• Ensure compliance with IDEA and related timelines and policies.
• Be available for on-site work during regular hours and as needed.
• Maintain and file reports related to special education eligibility and services.
• Facilitate IEP meetings with multi-disciplinary providers.
