Job summary

Wimberley Independent School District seeks a qualified Special Education teacher to provide learning activities and experiences designed to help students fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.

You will develop or modify curricula, prepare lessons and instructional materials to student ability levels; work in self-contained, team, or itinerant capacity; and participate in ARD meetings to set and implement IEP goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from accredited university.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsements for assignments.
• Knowledge of ARD Committee process and IEP goal setting/implementation.
• Experience: at least one-year student teaching or approved internship.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with students, parents, and staff to develop IEP through ARD.
• Implement instructional or therapeutic programs for assigned students.
• Plan and use instructions and materials reflecting student needs.
• Modify curricula and assist students in regular classes as needed.
• Attend ARD Committee meetings regularly.
• Assess student learning styles and adapt instruction accordingly.
• Present subject matter as per IEP guidelines.
• Use various instructional techniques and media for each student.
• Supervise teacher aide(s) and volunteers.
• Utilize technology in teaching/learning.
