Job summary

The therapist provides outpatient behavioral health treatment under clinical supervision, performing assessments, treatment planning, and therapy with a person-centered, trauma-informed approach, aiming toward independent licensure. The role requires active Ohio licensure toward independent status, strong documentation, and collaboration with supervisors

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in counseling or social work.
• Active licensure toward independent Ohio licensure.
• Willingness to practice under clinical supervision as required by Ohio law.
• Knowledge of basic behavioral health treatment principles and recovery-oriented care.
• Ability to complete compliant clinical documentation for Medicaid-billable services under supervision.
• Preferred: Experience in an OhioMHAS-certified outpatient setting.
• Preferred: Experience with individuals with mental health or substance use disorders.

Responsibilities

• Conduct clinical assessments and psychosocial evaluations within scope of licensure and under required supervision.
• Participate in development, implementation, and ongoing review of individualized treatment plans with supervisory approval.
• Provide outpatient individual, family, and group counseling services per OMHAS definitions and scope of practice.
• Deliver services using evidence-based therapeutic approaches appropriate to client needs and licensure level.
• Document services accurately and timely in the EHR per OhioMHAS and Medicaid standards.
• Establish and maintain medical necessity documentation with supervisory oversight.
• Participate in required clinical supervision, case consultations, and interdisciplinary team meetings.
• Coordinate care with internal programs and external providers to support continuity of care.
• Provide crisis intervention, risk screening, and safety planning per policy and supervisor direction.
• Maintain HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 confidentiality where applicable.
• Comply with OhioMHAS standards and agency policies.
• Participate in training and quality improvement activities.
