Job summary

Kitsap Public Health District is seeking a Payroll Specialist to perform technical payroll processing, maintain accurate records, and ensure compliance with applicable laws. This role supports accounting staff and provides back-up for other positions as needed.

The ideal candidate will have an AA degree in accounting or related field, 3+ years of payroll or fiscal office experience, and strong attention to detail in a team-oriented public health environment.

Qualifications

• AA degree in accounting or related field and 3 years of fiscal office experience; 5 years in general accounting may substitute.
• Payroll accounting experience preferred; CPA license may substitute minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and input payroll data from personnel action forms and timesheets.
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations and labor laws; reconcile payroll and benefits.
• Generate payroll distribution reports and respond to pay inquiries.
