Job summary

Good Shepherd Hamilton & Toronto is seeking a FT Payroll Clerk to support accurate and timely payroll for both union and non-union employees. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will review timecards, process payroll changes, and maintain payroll records while upholding confidentiality and accuracy.

The role requires 3–5 years of payroll experience, proficiency with Excel and ADP, and familiarity with Ontario standards.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of payroll experience preferred.
• Understanding of Ontario employment standards and payroll practices.
• Completion of Level 1 of the National Payroll Institute certification program.
• Experience with payroll processing, time and attendance, ROEs, and year-end payroll activities.

Responsibilities

• Review and verify timecards, hours, overtime, vacation, and other paid or unpaid time before payroll deadlines.
• Support bi-weekly payroll processing by reviewing inputs, journals, and exception reports.
• Process payroll changes including new hires, terminations, wage changes, and retroactive adjustments.
• Review gross pay, deductions, benefits, pension, and garnishments; ensure accuracy.
• Maintain payroll records and respond to routine inquiries from employees and managers.
• Prepare ROEs and assist with T4s, T4As; support compliance reporting.
