Job summary

Demant's Hearing Screening Associates seeks a Part-Time Newborn Hearing Screening Technician at East Cooper Medical Center, Mount Pleasant, SC. Shifts ~5 hours on weekdays with rotating weekends, starting 8:30am. Schedules established quarterly; pay $16.50/hr with $1.00/hr weekend differential.

Role includes performing newborn hearing tests, educating parents, and recording results prior to discharge. Training provided to ensure proficiency with TEOAE/ABR technologies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 1+ year healthcare or childcare training/experience, or related college curriculum is a plus.
• Possess basic computer skills.
• Ability to function independently in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
• Ability to attend all company provided training.
• Willingness to learn and operate hearing screening equipment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct newborn hearing screenings on all infants in the well baby and NICU units prior to discharge; coordinate post-discharge follow up care as needed.
• Work directly with nursing staff, patients, and parents to communicate relevance of hearing screening and early identification.
• Analyze and communicate responses to problem situations in a manner consistent with company and customer needs.
• Maintain and use hearing screening equipment; assist with database management.
• Interact with various hospital departments; perform duties per HSA and hospital policies.
• Uphold code of conduct and compliance policies.
• Thorough knowledge of Transient Otoacoustic Emissions and/or Automated Auditory Brainstem Response technology after training.
• All other duties as assigned.
