Job summary

Hearing Screening Associates, part of the Demant Group, seeks a Part-Time Newborn Hearing Screening Technician for Chesapeake Regional Medical Center in Chesapeake, Virginia. The role screens newborns for hearing loss in well baby and NICU units and supports families with education and follow-up as needed.

Shifts average about 5 hours daily, totaling roughly 20 hours per week. Training is provided to ensure competency with screening equipment and procedures.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1+ year healthcare or childcare training/experience is a plus.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Ability to function independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness and ability to learn and operate hearing screening equipment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct newborn hearing screenings in well baby and NICU units prior to discharge.
• Coordinate post-discharge follow-up as needed using appropriate procedures.
• Communicate relevance of screening to parents and nursing staff.
• Maintain and use hearing screening equipment and assist with database management.
• Interact with hospital departments per policies and procedures.
• Complete training to master Transient Otoacoustic Emissions and/or ABR technologies.
