Job summary

The Mental Health Association (MHA) seeks compassionate Outreach Workers to support individuals with developmental disabilities, brain injuries, mental health challenges, and substance use disorders in Western Massachusetts. This community-based role helps participants gain independence by assisting with daily living tasks and accessing resources.

In this position you will help secure housing, teach essential living skills, and coordinate transportation while collaborating with healthcare

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and a safe, reliable vehicle.
• Compassionate, patient, and adaptable individual who enjoys working independently.
• Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills.
• Ability to pass CPR and first aid certification (training provided).
• Ability to pass a background/CORI check.
• Six months of experience in human services is a plus

Responsibilities

• Assist participants in finding and maintaining housing, working with landlords, and ensuring stable living conditions.
• Teach and model essential independent living skills like budgeting, cooking, cleaning, and socializing.
• Provide reliable transportation to appointments, errands, and community activities.
• Work with healthcare providers, Social Security offices, and other community resources to support participant needs.
• Respond to emergencies, ensuring participant safety and well-being
