Job summary

Mental Health Association - Western MA in Massachusetts is seeking Outreach Workers to support individuals with developmental disabilities, brain injuries, mental health challenges, and substance use disorders in community settings. Open Shift: Tue–Sat 11:30am–7:30pm (40hrs).

This role emphasizes helping participants gain independence through housing assistance, daily living skills, and navigation of services in the region.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Six months of experience in human services is a plus.
• A valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, and a safe, reliable vehicle.
• Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist participants in finding and maintaining housing, working with landlords, and ensuring stable living conditions.
• Teach and model essential independent living skills like budgeting, cooking, cleaning, and socializing.
• Provide reliable transportation to appointments, errands, and community activities.
• Work with healthcare providers, Social Security offices, and other community resources to support participant needs.
• Respond to emergencies, ensuring participant safety and well-being.
