Job summary

Indian Health Service is seeking an Optometrist to provide comprehensive eye care to patients in federally funded programs. The role includes exams, diagnoses, and treatments of eye diseases and ocular conditions, with emergency ocular care when needed.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Optometry degree from an ACOE-accredited program.
• Passing NBEO exams and maintaining a current full optometry license.
• For GS-12, one year residency or one year of professional experience at GS-11 level.
• U.S. citizenship and selective service obligations apply.

Responsibilities

• Provide full range of professional optometric duties: exam, diagnosis, and treatment of eye diseases.
• Diagnose and manage ocular diseases and provide primary eye care.
• Offer emergency ocular care in outpatient and inpatient settings.
• Maintain licensure and clinical privileges as required.
