The Veterans Canteen Service at Hemet VA Medical Center is seeking an experienced Health Tech (Optician) to support operations within VCS Optical Shops. You will coordinate optical operations and serve as a liaison between eye clinic providers and prosthetics teams to ensure accurate, timely eyewear for Veterans.

You will greet customers, perform eyewear fittings and measurements, process orders, and maintain inventory while delivering high-quality patient service in a welcoming environment.

Qualifications

• Must be certified by the State Board of Opticianry.
• Minimum of one year of experience as an Optician.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining high patient service standards.
• Ability to identify prescription discrepancies and take corrective action.
• Skilled in optical verification and quality assurance.
• Proficient in optical equipment and tools.
• A valid REAL ID is required to work with the Veterans Canteen Service.

Responsabilités

• Greet customers and assist with frame selection, pricing, product options, and delivery timelines.
• Maintain a professional, welcoming environment while supporting patients in making informed eyewear decisions.
• Perform eyewear fittings and measurements using digital pupilometers, lensometers, and other tools.
• Document patient information and measurements within CPRS.
• Process eyewear orders, collect payments, prepare sales documentation, and enter orders into VA systems.
• Promote lens options and upgrades with a consultative, no-pressure approach.
• Coordinate with eye clinics, laboratories, prosthetics staff, and vendors to track orders and resolve issues.
• Address customer concerns and escalate complex issues when necessary.
• Maintain eyewear displays and manage merchandise and inventory controls.
• Support merchandise control, pricing, recordkeeping, and protection of inventory and fixed assets.
