Qualifications

• The Medication Technician is responsible for documenting, delivering and administering medicines to residents in accordance with policies, procedures and government regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with daily medications, treatments and resident care within scope and procedures.
• Observe, verify and document that medication is ingested or applied as directed.
• Notify supervisor if prescribed medication is not administered as directed and document the reason(s).
• Maintain clear, accurate, confidential records on resident medication and care per procedures.
• Coordinate medication services with resident, pharmacy and physician(s) and verify dosages prior to dispensing.
• Track orders for medication changes and/or refills and prepare medications up to 24 hours in advance.
• Participate in narcotics handling as required.
