Job summary

Leidos in downtown Los Angeles, CA, seeks a Paralegal to support the DOJ with discovery, motions, and trial preparations. A paralegal certificate or active ABA‑accredited law school status with one year completed is required, along with one year of litigation paralegal experience.

You will assist attorneys in discovery, summarize transcripts, index documents, and help prepare exhibits for depositions and court proceedings in a fast-paced government setting.

Qualifications

  • Paralegal certificate or currently in ABA-accredited law school with at least one year completed.
  • At least one year of litigation paralegal or project experience.
  • Basic legal knowledge including citation rules and ability to cite motions/memoranda.
  • Proficiency with Lexis and Westlaw.
  • Familiarity with word processing, databases, spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Work under the direction of a Supervisory Paralegal, Project Supervisor or Direct Report.
  • Compile, prepare, and summarize materials for attorneys in discovery and in the preparation of motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
  • Summarize depositions and other transcripts; maintain case files; conduct simple legal research.
  • Index, track, and control document discovery, including documents produced and received.
  • Index, track, and exhibit materials at depositions and trial.
  • Prepare exhibit cross-references.
  • Assist attorneys in courtroom settings.
  • Review documents for relevance and privilege based on established guidelines.
  • Compile documents for FOIA requests, production requests, congressional inquiries, etc.
