Job summary

Conifer Realty is seeking a Leasing Specialist / Agent for affordable housing in Damascus, MD. You will greet prospective residents, conduct tours, process applications, and manage renewals to keep communities full and compliant.

You’ll work with LIHTC and HUD programs, ensure Fair Housing compliance, and provide excellent customer service using Yardi or similar property management software. High school diploma required; bilingual a plus.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of apartment leasing experience
• 1 year experience with affordable housing programs (LIHTC, HUD-Section 8, HOME, RD) required
• Familiarity with Fair Housing and compliance requirements
• Proficiency in Yardi or similar property management software
• Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills
• Basic math and data-entry abilities for rent collection and recordkeeping
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills are a plus
• High school diploma or GED required; COS or TCS certification desired or willingness to obtain

Responsibilities

• Greet prospective residents, conduct tours, and highlight community features to drive occupancy
• Market available units and manage leasing applications and renewals
• Process applications and recertifications accurately under LIHTC, HUD, or other affordable housing programs
• Assist residents with rent collection, service requests, and community communications
• Collaborate with maintenance and office staff to maintain property appearance and safety
• Stay organized with reports, filing, and data entry to keep operations running smoothly
