Job summary

Conifer Realty is seeking a Leasing Specialist for our Damascus, MD communities. You will welcome prospective residents, conduct tours, and promote available units while ensuring compliance with LIHTC/HUD programs and Fair Housing regulations.

Your role includes handling leasing applications, rent collection, renewals, and resident communications, backed by strong organizational and data-entry skills. A bilingual (Spanish/English) candidate is a plus and COS/TCS certification is a bonus.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of apartment leasing experience.
• 1 year experience with affordable housing programs (LIHTC, HUD-Section 8, HOME, RD).
• Familiarity with Fair Housing and compliance requirements.
• Proficiency in Yardi or similar property management software.
• Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
• Basic math and data-entry abilities for rent collection and recordkeeping.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills are a plus.
• High school diploma or GED required; COS or TCS certification desired or willingness to obtain.

• Champion great first impressions - greet prospective residents, conduct tours, and highlight the features that make Conifer communities special.
• Drive occupancy - market available units, respond to inquiries, and manage leasing applications and renewals.
• Ensure compliance - process applications and recertifications accurately under LIHTC, HUD, or other affordable housing programs.
• Deliver exceptional service - assist residents with rent collection, service requests, and community communications.
• Support teamwork - collaborate with maintenance and office staff to maintain high standards for property appearance and safety.
• Stay organized - manage reports, filing, and data entry to keep operations running smoothly.

Salary: $20.00 - $25.00 / hour | Full Time | Monday-Friday | 8:30 am - 5:00 pm

Requirements

Work schedules may include Saturdays, based on property performance needs such as occupancy levels, leasing activity, and rent collections. When required, weekend coverage will be scheduled on a rotating basis and aligned with business priorities. Employees are expected to support leasing efforts, resident engagement, and rent collection activities during scheduled weekend hours. Work schedules are subject to change based on business needs and property performance.
