Job summary

SCI in New Castle, DE seeks a Family Service Counselor to serve families through compassionate, personalized cemetery and pre-need arrangements, driving revenue and acting as the primary family contact. You will generate referrals, manage inquiries, and maintain trust-based relationships.

The role requires evening/weekend availability, valid driver’s license, and may involve obtaining an insurance license where required. A strong customer-service background is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 1-2 years of college or equivalent experience.
• 1-2 years of customer service or sales experience preferred.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an insurance license if required by state.

Responsibilities

• Lead generation: prospect for 1-2 hours daily, obtain referrals, network with community, present to families, track activity.
• Build relationships with families by responding promptly, listening, understanding needs, and ensuring satisfaction.
• Collaborate with funeral directors and location staff to provide seamless, high quality service.
• Prepare for appointments and follow up on all family concerns with empathy and professionalism.
