Job summary

The Cincinnati-Hamilton County Community Action Agency (CAA) is seeking a Head Start Teacher Assistant in Cincinnati, OH. Qualifications

• Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.
• CDA credential or state certificate meeting CDA requirements; may enroll in program to pursue degree.
• Minimum of two years’ experience with young children; Head Start or early childhood setting preferred.
• Knowledge of child development principles and developmentally appropriate practices.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Assist Teacher in planning and implementing daily activities and lesson plans aligned with Head Start standards and developmentally appropriate practices.
• Create welcoming, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment supporting safety and cleanliness.
• Incorporate strategies to promote social-emotional development.
• Engage with children to support learning and development.
• Assist in assessments of children’s development and maintain timely documentation.
• Support home activities to reinforce learning at home.
• Promote safety using Active Supervision indoors and outdoors.
• Communicate with parents about child progress and needs.
• Participate in parent-teacher conferences and home visits as needed.
