Job summary

Community Action For Improvement Inc. Head Start is seeking a Teacher Assistant to support teachers in planning and delivering a developmentally appropriate program for three- and four-year-olds.

The role involves classroom setup, observation, family engagement, and collaboration with school systems and other agencies. The position requires a Child Development Associate, Technical Certificate, or an Associate degree in Childhood Education, with experience in preschool settings preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum Child Development Associate, Technical Certificate of Credit, or Associate degree in Childhood Education
• Experience working with pre-school age children
• Desirable 2 years of experience working with children in a pre-school environment

Responsibilities

• Plans, implements, and models a healthy and safe curriculum that supports development in young children
• Assists in providing a safe environment by implementing routines and procedures to prevent injury
• Participates in staffing plans to address individual physical and intellectual needs of children
• Rides on a school bus as the Monitor
• Maintains confidentiality of children and families and handles sensitive information appropriately
• Observes and records data on children to monitor development and behavior
• Models appropriate mealtime behavior and supports family-style meals
• Collaborates with Parents, Teachers and Family Social Workers to provide comprehensive services for children and families
• Performs regular cleaning and sanitation of the classroom and workspaces
• Follows Head Start policies and procedures and adheres to all regulations
