Job summary

Omaha Housing Authority in Omaha seeks a dedicated Accountant to ensure financial accuracy and compliance for Housing Choice Voucher programs. You will support budgeting, reporting, and audits while collaborating with multiple stakeholders to sustain affordable housing initiatives.

The role emphasizes GAAP adherence, HUD regulations, and detailed reconciliations, with a strong focus on accuracy and service to residents and landlords.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of HUD HCV regulations & GAAP.
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong financial analysis, organizational, and data interpretation skills.
• Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Process, review, and reconcile monthly HAP payments to property owners.
• Submit monthly VMS reports and ensure data accuracy, including Prior Month Corrections.
• Monitor HCV revenue and expenses, analyze variances, and forecast expenses using HUD tools.
• Process portability billing and ensure accurate payments and compliance.
• Maintain records and prepare workpapers for annual HUD audits.
• Perform general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, receivable/payable, and month/year-end closings.
• Serve as SME for the HCV program and liaise with departments, landlords, tenants, HUD, and agencies.
