Job summary

Methodist Home for Children in Greenville, NC is seeking a Foster Care Specialist to help children and families navigate transitions. You'll work with foster families, birth families, community partners, and child welfare professionals to provide advocacy and stability.

The role focuses on reunification, kinship placement, or adoption, building strong relationships, developing service plans, and ensuring educational, medical, and behavioral needs are met. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Sociology, Counseling, or a related field.
• Two or more years of experience in child welfare, foster care, family preservation, case management, mental health, juvenile justice, or related human services work.
• Strong assessment, documentation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Providing case management and family-centered services to children and families.
• Supporting foster parents through ongoing coaching, training, and advocacy.
• Partnering with DSS, schools, therapists, medical providers, and court personnel.
• Developing service plans and helping families work toward reunification and permanency goals.
• Advocating for children's educational, medical, behavioral health, and developmental needs.
• Maintaining timely documentation and compliance with licensing and regulatory requirements.
• Participating in foster parent recruitment, training, and support efforts.
• Providing after-hours support on a rotating basis, with team backup available.
