Job summary

South Carolina Department of Social Services (Beaufort County) is hiring for an ES Eligibility Specialist to support SNAP, TANF, ESAP, and SCCAP programs. You will conduct daily interviews, determine eligibility, and authorize benefits where applicable.

The role requires a HS diploma with relevant clerical/social program experience; an associate degree can substitute. A valid driver's license is required, along with ability to travel for field work. Benefits include health and retirement options.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; relevant program experience considered.
• Associate Degree or higher may substitute for required program experience.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to a motor vehicle.
• If selected, provide certified official transcript upon offer.

Responsibilities

• Provide services per federal/state laws and agency policies for SNAP, ESAP, SCCAP, TANF in Economic Services.
• Conduct a minimum of 15 quality interviews per day via phone or face-to-face for various programs.
• Process applications/recertifications and determine eligibility for benefits.
• Maintain case records in agency systems and document participation activities; enter timely data in SCOSA.
• Identify overpayments; refer at least 3 referrals to Benefit Integrity Unit and attend hearings as directed.
• Participate in required trainings and staff meetings; safeguard PII and agency systems.
• Perform Red Cross shelter or other emergency shelter duties as directed.
