Job summary

Miami County in Ohio seeks an Eligibility Referral Specialist to interview and support public assistance clients across SNAP, Medicaid, OWF and related programs. You will assess employment barriers and coordinate with partner agencies to help clients access work experience opportunities.

Responsibilities include tracking clients in education or training, assisting with job search and retention, processing overpayments, and attending hearings and meetings on related issues.

Qualifications

• Required: High School Diploma/GED or 1-3 years at a JFS agency.
• Preferred: Associate Degree.
• HOURS: Monday – Friday, 8a – 5p (Hours may vary due to the needs of the agency outside of normal working hours).
• FLSA: Non-Exempt from Overtime

Responsibilities

• Interviews and maintains communication with public assistance clients who have previously been determined to be eligible for public assistance and/or assesses ongoing clients’ employment situation and seeks to resolve any barriers to employment these clients may be experiencing.
• Tracks ongoing clients already enrolled in education and/or training programs and assists ongoing clients in job search/retention activities.
• Processes public assistance overpayments and under-issuances.
• Attends hearings, training, and meetings regarding public assistance issues/cases and/or employment issues.
• Contacts other public and private sector agencies to establish potential work experience sites for education and/or training program participants.
• Performs miscellaneous tasks associated with the duties of the Eligibility/Referral unit.
