Job summary

South St. Paul Public Schools seeks an Early Childhood Special Education Assistant - Long-Term Substitute at Lincoln Center Elementary School to provide direct support to students with IEPs, assist with daily living activities, implement instructional and behavioral plans, and help maintain a safe, inclusive classroom aligned with district guidelines.

The role involves collaboration with teachers and case managers, data collection, and documentation of student progress through January 17, 2027,

Qualifications

• Knowledge of data privacy rules and regulations related to student information.
• Basic computer operations, including email and word processing.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
• Collaborative skills to work with staff and families.

Responsibilities

• Assist students during arrival/dismissal and supervision on transportation as required by IEPs.
• Support self-care needs and daily living activities as directed by the case manager.
• Monitor behavior and implement appropriate interventions.
• Support instruction and modifications/ accommodations as directed by special education staff.
• Follow IEPs and BIPs with fidelity and document progress.
• Maintain records related to IEP services and progress reports.
• Communicate with teachers, case managers and team members to coordinate services.
• Participate in required training and adhere to district policies.
