Job summary

Save the Children is seeking an Early Head Start Teacher to develop and implement infant/toddler education plans, promoting social-emotional, physical, and cognitive growth. You will co-lead with another teacher, ensure compliance with regulations, and build strong family partnerships while safeguarding children’s safety in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities include planning lessons, conducting conferences and home visits, maintaining records, and supporting professional development.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a CDA or an associate degree in child development, early childhood education or a related degree with early childhood coursework.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with staff, families and external partners to provide high-quality services.
  • Strong time management, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to follow directions, maintain confidentiality and adhere to regulations.
  • Knowledge of Head Start/Early Head Start program purpose.
  • Ability to relate sensitively to children and maintain confidentiality.
  • Participation in professional development including basic first aid and pediatric CPR certification as required by state licensing.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized and group lesson plans for infants and toddlers focusing on social-emotional, physical, and cognitive growth.
  • Lead classroom activities with another teacher and support from aides and volunteers.
  • Ensure legal compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and maintain documentation.
  • Establish partnerships with families and keep them informed about child progress.
  • Maintain safe, developmentally appropriate learning environments; supervise children actively.
  • Plan conferences and home visits to discuss progress and activities with caregivers.
  • Keep accurate records and protect confidentiality of children and families.
  • Support professional development plans and assist in developing staff skills.
