Job summary

Gesher Human Services is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) in Southfield, MI. The DSP provides hands-on assistance to individuals with disabilities to engage in work, recreation, volunteering, and daily living activities in community and facility settings.

Responsibilities include promoting independence, safety, and social inclusion, and working with participants according to individual service plans. Training, documentation, and mobility support are part of the role.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalency required; two years of college preferred.
• 21+ years of age; valid Michigan driver’s license; reliable transportation.
• Criminal background must meet funding source requirements.
• Fluency in American Sign Language is a plus.
• Basic computer skills; CPR and First Aid trainings required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement and supervise activities that promote healthy, active, socially integrated living for people with disabilities.
• Assist participants with employment, daily living, personal care, hygiene and mobility as needed.
• Oversee administration and documentation of medication as assigned.
• Provide support and training based on goals in service plans.
• Supervise and maintain participant safety; transport participants using Agency van.
• Complete training, daily reports and respond to email using Agency computers.
• All other duties as assigned; serve on Agency committees as appointed.
