Job summary

Gesher Human Services is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to assist individuals with disabilities in meaningful work, recreation, volunteering, and daily living activities in community and facility settings. The DSP promotes independence, safety, and social inclusion by providing direct support, skill-building, and encouragement aligned with each participant’s service plan.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of college preferred.
• 21+ years of age and reliable transportation are required.
• Valid Michigan driver’s license and driving record acceptable to Agency insurer.
• CPR, First Aid and Recipient Rights trainings completed or to be completed.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement and supervise activities promoting healthy, active and socially integrated lifestyles for people with disabilities.
• Assist participants with employment, daily living, hygiene and grooming.
• Oversee administration and documentation of medications.
• Provide support and training based on goals in service plans.
• Supervise and maintain safety of participants.
• Transport participants using Agency van.
• Complete training, daily reports and respond to email using Agency computers.
• All other duties as assigned.
• Serve on Agency committees as appointed.
